Megan Thee Stallion is set to visit Scotland in the summer (July 4). Megan will make her Scotland premiere performing at the country's largest entertainment venue in Glasgow. The Houston rapper has amassed more than 25m monthly listeners on Spotify and since her rise to fame in 2019 she has only got bigger.

Her dirty rap/trap style lyrics appeal more to a women audience, but there’s no doubt some guys will be excited to see the global hitmaker. Her most notable achievement is making up half of the astronomical hit WAP, partnering with Cardi B. The song has been played more than one billion times on Spotify.

Lil Yachty

Lil Yachty blew up aged just 18 after his viral hit One Night. Since his rise to fame, “Lil Boat” had never really made the quality of music expected by fans and had often disappointed or been just okay.

This narrative changed after Yachty’s 2023 run earned him the “year’s most improved” title from many hip-hop fans and tapping into a psychedelic rock style has brought the best out the Georgia rhymer. The Let’s Start Here artist believes his fifth and most recent studio album is his best work to date. His tour for the album will see him touch down in Glasgow on May 2 when he is set to perform at the O2 Academy.

Nicki Minaj

New York and the world’s Queen of Rap is set to appear in Glasgow for not the first time. The 41-year-old superstar has earned the respect as one of the greatest female rappers of all time.

Her catalogue of more than 15 years of mixtapes and albums was recently added to with her December release Pink Friday 2. The first edition (2010) of the album is her most successful album and the second most streamed rap album ever by a female artist. Minaj is set to perform at the OVO Hydro on May 29.

Bryson Tiller

Despite not having released an album in nearly three years, Bryson Tiller is set to take to the O2 Academy stage on April 8.

The Louisville musician has perfected a fusion of trap and soul music with his most popular album Trapsoul which will have its 10-year anniversary next year. His debut album has so far been his most successful and features tracks like Don’t, which now has more than one billion plays on Spotify.

Doja Cat

Doja Cat’s rise to the top has been quick and incredible. Doja stormed the music scene after her 2019 album Hot Pink. The Los Angeles rapper and singer followed up her breakthrough album with Planet Her. These two albums have amassed billions of streams and Doja currently has more than 60 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

In recent times, the 28-year-old has completely changed her style of not just music, but appearance and the way she carries herself. Doja can now be seen cutting a demonic and scary figure in her performances in person. She also displays this on her 2023 album Scarlet featuring her controversial hit single Paint The Town Red.

You can expect to see Doja Cat perform at the OVO Hydro on June 16, but if you’re attending, you should expect the unexpected.

Akon

Club banger specialist Akon is heading to Glasgow on April 29. Akon made a name for himself nearly 20 years ago with albums and hit songs which were rapped but could easily be danced to and therefore turned into modern-day club classics.

If you're heading along to the O2 Academy to see the Senegalese American artist, you may be surprised by some of the recent additions to his catalogue. Nevertheless, the rapping and dancing is still in full flow.

Wes Nelson

Once Love Island star Wes Nelson has used his reality TV fame to start a so far successful music career. After appearing on ITV 2’s hit show in 2018, the Newcastle-born RnB artist has propelled his music career which he started in 2020. His debut single See Nobody featuring Hardy Caprio peaked at third on the UK charts and he still hasn’t been able to better his debut success.

Nelson has yet to release an album but has added singles to his catalogue since his debut. The Englishman is expected to perform at the SWG3 on May 9.

Lil Tracy

Lil Tracy earned his fame as a prominent part of the Soundcloud and Underground eras of rap music and was a frequent collaborator and best friend of Lil Peep, who overdosed aged just 21. Tracy’s music is very similar to that of his immensely popular late friend.

Tracy has five million monthly listeners and his most successful piece of work with Peep White Tee has more than 350 million plays. This will likely be the highlight of the night as the New Jersey-born artist usually pays tribute to his great mate when he performs at the O2 on May 1.

Danny Brown

Despite having the least monthly listeners on this list, hardcore hip-hop fans will tell you Danny Brown is the best artist mentioned. Many people thought Brown’s collaboration album with JPEGMAFIA Scaring The Hoes was 2023’s best hip-hop album of the year, which is quite the compliment.

Brown will be without his most recent album’s partner in crime but will still bring hits from his impressive regime of solo projects. If you want to see one of rap’s most underrated talents, he will be performing at SWG3 on May 28.

Nemzzz

Nemzzz is part of a young crop of up-and-coming UK rappers. The 19-year-old made it big at just 17 with the hit single 2MS.

The Manchester-born youngster is expected to perform at SWG3 on May 3.
