Must Read Books This Autumn
Autumn is the perfect time to cosy up on the couch with a nice cup of tea, and most importantly, a new book. Now that nights will be longer and darker, a book is the perfect way to make time pass and to also put your feet up after a long day of work. Here are two books I would recommend reading this Autumn.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
If you enjoy fictional books which are set in the time of "Old Hollywood", then sit back and relax, because this is the perfect book for you. This is a romance novel about an old Hollywood star, Evelyn Hugo. She is now 79 and decides to give one last interview to a small time/ unknown journalist (Monique). To put it into perspective, Evelyn is as iconic as Marilyn Monroe once was and still is. This book follows the glamorous, cunning, and colourful life of Evelyn, from failed marriages to Hollywood secrets and even forbidden love. Author, Taylor Jenkins, has done a seemingly marvellous job at depicting love and joy, but also hints of misfortune and scorn within the same story line. This book is ravishing, make sure you have tissues nearby... because you will shed a tear or two.
In Five Years
If you like books you can read in one sitting, then this is the perfect book for you. New York Times Bestseller, "In Five Years", is a fictional romance novel, which is based in New York. It follows a woman (Dannie), who has a 'picture perfect life'. She gets engaged to her dream man, nails the most important interview of her life and somehow does it all in a very stylish manner. One night, Dannie falls asleep, and little does she know that this would change the course of her life forever. Dannie has a dream that is set five years into the future, she is engaged to a new man, has a new job and her entire life has been turned upside down. Author, Rebecca Serle, has created a story which is full of twists and turns, both heart-breaking but also joyous and uplifting. A story that narrates the most beautiful aspects of love, but also leaves you with a bitter taste. A truly astounding book, that is perfect for Autumn nights.
