We Are’s Second Life Fashion: Glasgow’s Sustainable Pop-Up Store
Rethinking fashion for the future, the journey ahead of the COP26 climate summit for sustainable fashion outlet ‘we are’ starts in sourcing various clothing pieces from Europe, locally and through up-cycling.
The Halloween weekend pop-up event at the St Enoch’s centre, on the 30th and 31st look to make a statement for COP26 about sustainability and the current state of the clothing market.
Matt Griffiths, Founder of ‘we are’, said: “we are’s Second Life pop-up events are not just vintage, - there are vintage clothing pieces - it is about normalising the journey of buying sustainable clothing for all ages and demographics, promoting the importance of up-cycling, giving clothing longer life.
“we are is not trying to compete, we want to open our doors to everyone, it’s about education, fast-fashion is going to exist, maybe we can make brands think about their clothing and the negative impacts of their production, promoting short-lived, unethical clothing.”
‘we are’ wants to send a powerful message with the timely pop up in the heart of Glasgow. Matt said: “The wave of change has started.”
‘we are’ events utilise a unique pay per kilo approach. One kilo of clothing costs £20.
You do not have to buy a whole kilo, you are charged for what you buy.
But what can you get for one kilo? we are said: “Perhaps a whole outfit - a pair of jeans, a crazy T-shirt, 4 T-shirts.”
‘we are’ is inclusive of all size ranges, ‘we are’ said: “XXS to Plus sizes.”
Regardless of time slot, we are is aware people are worried the best items will be cleared out early. we are said: “We restock our rails with fresh finds all day long.”
