Premier League: Three Things we Learned as Rivals Meet

The first round of midweek fixtures are here in the Premier League, and it ended up being a

blockbuster round of fixtures with old rivals meeting and teams searching to gain some form.

Ronaldo record as United win thriller (Man Utd- 3 Arsenal- 2)

Cristiano Ronaldo is known very much so for breaking records, and his two goals at the weekend

helped him to make his overall tally in his career to 801, an inhumane number as he continues to

drag this United side into a new era under Ralf Rangnick in their hunt to get champions league

football this season.

Arsenal were the masters of their own downfall, and after a promising run, they are now on two

losses from three games, a run that will see them lose ground in their hunt for the top four, and with

clubs such as Spurs and United breathing down their neck, it will be a tough ask to get them there if

they are to continue playing like this.

United and Arsenal played out a goal fest on Thursday, with a controversial goal scored by Emile

Smith Rowe giving the gunners the lead, and despite taking the lead again through Odegard, Ronaldo

came up with two goals to get all three points for the Red Devil’s.

Liverpool thrash Everton at Goodison (Everton- 1 Liverpool- 4)

Liverpool remain at their scoring best this season, with this being the third game in a row where they

have scored four goals in a game. They look to be fighting Chelsea and Man City all the way to the

end for this title, and if they continue to score at this level, very few teams will struggle to stop

them.

Everton fans were rightfully displeased by what was seen by the Toffees as a gutless defensive

display at the top of the list in what was a disastrous performance from Rafa Benitez and his men.

This result was never in doubt for Liverpool, they pushed from minute one and the gulf in class was

evident from the first 15 minutes as Liverpool took an early 2-0 lead, and despite a Demari Gray goal,

it was never a question as to who was winning this game.

Gerrard experiences first loss against ruthless City (Aston Villa-1 Man City-2)

Despite losing, Aston Villa can remain positive after what was a good display by them, only coming

unstuck by two moments of magic from a fantastic football team in Manchester City. Steven Gerrard

can look to build on this in his hunt to get Aston Villa as high up the table as possible.

Manchester City we’re at their scintillating best at the midlands today, and one standout player in

Bernardo Silva controlled tempo all game, and be crucial in their hunt to retain the title they won

last season.

Two fantastic goals taken by Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias was the difference for City on

Wednesday night but they ultimately had their work cut out against a Steven Gerrard Aston Villa

who constantly were able to beat the Man City press, but ultimately, just lacked a bit of end product.
