How Likely are Britons to Believe in Conspiracy Theories?

One of the hottest topics for conspiracy theorists at the moment is the various Covid-19 vaccines being dispersed to the vast majority of the human population. Some people think that Covid was manufactured and let loose intentionally to control the population, or that 5G is the true cause of the outbreak.

But how likely are Britons to believe in these theories?

Well, according to a study by YouGov, Britain is actually one of the least likely places to believe in conspiracy theories. One in particular was a conspiracy theory that pharmaceutical companies are hiding the harmful side effects of vaccines from the public, in which 19% of the UK public believes. When compared to other countries like South Africa (57%), and Turkey (48%), this doesn’t seem so bad.

So how about other popular conspiracy theories from different points of history?

One of the most famous conspiracies of all time is that the US Government was somehow involved in the attacks on the twin towers. Compared to other countries like Mexico (49%) and even the US itself, where 20% of the population thinks their own government was involved. The UK scored low again with 12%.

The theory that humanity has made secret contact with alien life saw the UK score low in comparison again, with 20% of the population believing this to be true.

So, it turns out we aren't too big on our conspiracy theories here compared to the rest of the world, who would have thought it?
