Premier League: Three key Moments

Another round of Premier League fixtures took place midweek after the fourth round of the FA Cup was played out and there were plenty of goals and drama at the main point of discussion.

Goals Galore at Villa  (Aston Villa- 3 Leeds- 3 )

Aston Villa fans were in awe of Phillippe Coutinho and Jacob Ramsey, but will know it is their defence that let them down yet again as they fell to a draw. Steven Gerrard knows what he must do with his side if they are to push up the table and will hope the magic of their midfield can continue.

Leeds remain out of the relegation zone for the moment after the draw, but know they will need to start to pick up wins as teams below them continue to gain form and will need to find the right balance in order to be ready for the challenge ahead of them.

It was a goal-fest at Villa Park, with five first half goals in a pulsating affair. The second half died down but a series of errors from a set piece leads to an equaliser from Diego Llorente in the second half and sharing the points with Aston Villa.

United Slump to Burnley (Man Utd- 1 Burnley- 1)

Manchester United continue to struggle under Ralf Rangnick as they lose more ground in the hunt for top four. Sloppy defensive work continues to be their downfall and whoever comes in the summer will have an almighty task on their hand.

Burnley, despite being routed to the relegation zone with games in hand, can be pleased they walked away with a point against United in their hunt to stay in the division. They have been hit badly from COVID and will need to gain a run of form and this result can only be a positive for them.

It was the same old same old for United, going forward almost doesn’t seem to be a problem, but a lack of cohesion from midfield to defence being the reason that they dropped more points to the teams around them.

Liverpool gain valuable win versus Leicester (Liverpool- 2 Leicester -0)

Liverpool need to win every game between now and the end of the season if they are to win the title, and they gained a crucial three points as Leicester came to visit. The reds sit nine points behind leaders Manchester City with a game in hand and every win is as crucial as the last as they continue their hunt for a potential quadruple.

The pressure is firmly on Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City as they sit in the bottom half of the table. After an embarrassing FA Cup exit, they were hoping to make amends against this Liverpool side but struggled to get any foothold in the game and slumped yet again to another defeat.

It was plain sailing for Klopp and Liverpool, who were able to see the return of Mo Salah and a league debut for January signing Luis Diaz. It was a professional performance with a double from Diogo Jota to see them keep up with Man City.
