Premier League Darts: Gerwyn Price Hits Two Nine-Dart Finishes to win Night Three

Gerwyn Price wins Premier League night three after wins over Michael Smith, Michael van Gerwen and James Wade. 'The Ice Man' takes home £10,000 and now sits second in the table.

Price put in one of the best performances in Premier League history hitting two nine-darters on the same night.

The first of Price's perfect legs came in the semi-finals in a remarkable 6-5 victory over Michael van Gerwen, which was probably the match of the night. Price averaged a staggering 108.9 against the dutchman, on an all-around great night for the 'Ice Man'.

Van Gerwen conquered last week's runner-up Joe Cullen 6-2 in his opening match and will feel unfortunate to lose in the semis, having averaged 106 against Price.

The world number one had already checked out a 170 earlier in the night in a 6-3 victory over Michael Smith in the quarters. Price averaged 108.54 to Smith's 103.55. 'Bully Boy' can't seem to buy a win at the moment as he remains the only player in the league without a win so far.

Surprisingly, Price turned his usual boo's into cheers from the Belfast crowd as he became the first player since Phil Taylor in 2010 to hit two perfect legs on the same night.

He checked out the night with a 141 to send the Belfast crowd into a state of hysteria. It was a valiant effort by 'The Machine' James Wade but despite his best efforts, it was Price that went home with five points on the table and a cheque of £10,000.

Over the course of the evening, Price averaged 107.5 and fired home 12 maximums, not to mention the two perfect legs.

Price said: “Tonight I felt like I couldn't miss. I feel on top of the world right now. I told James in the practice room [before the final] I was going to hit another one, I just fancied it tonight.

"But, as well as I played tonight, I could've possibly lost in two games which shows how high the standard is at the moment. That's how well I've been playing recently, I'm feeling good in myself.

"I put it down to being been back in the gym and looking after myself. The last two-and-a-half weeks I've been putting some hard work in at the gym."
