Five Tricks to Keep Your Curly Hair Looking Healthy
I think I speak for a lot of people when I say your hair not looking it’s best truly does ruin your day. That random strand of hair that’s sitting against the rest, the frizziness as soon as you leave the house, or it just looking flat. It ruins your mood.
My hair isn’t the curliest out there and speaking from the experience of that straight hair phase most people with curly hair go through, natural curls are far better than straightened hair. How about exploring some tricks I’ve learnt along the way?
Using an old t-shirt to dry your hair
Don’t get me wrong, this sounds strange, but using a t-shirt to dry your hair prevents frizz and leaves your hair with better styled curls. This is because the t-shirt isn’t abrasive like a towel, meaning the water is absorbed into the t-shirt and not rubbed out by the ribbed edged towel.
The scrunch method
We all know just how annoying it can be when your hair eventually dries from the shower, your curls are still as flat as when you woke up in the morning! However, another trick when drying your hair is not to rub your hair, but to get either your towel or above-mentioned t-shirt and scrunch from the end of your hair upwards. This allows the curls to become bouncy and form into their natural shape.
Hair care with coconut in it
There’s nothing worse than frizzy dry curls! So why not use coconut oil shampoo/conditioner as it moisturises your hair, allowing your curls to become shiny and hold their shape. It can also fix any loose/broken ends of hair that have become damaged.
Leave-in conditioner
I used to be against the thought of using a leave-in conditioner through the fear of it making my hair oily, however, having begun using a leave-in conditioner I’m never going back! Leave-in conditioners suited to your hair type creates a healthy shine to your hair as well as holding your curls in place.
Invest in a diffuser
A bit on the pricey side, diffusers are one of the must-haves if you’re looking to get the best result from your hair and curls. Using a diffuser after your shower, alongside all the above-mentioned tips, will leave your hair looking as healthy and as gorgeous as ever!
