Braylon Shmyr joins Glasgow clan, Coach enjoyed team building week.
A lot has happened this week for the Clan outside of their games. Despite a couple of losses, Coach Malcolm Cameron has remained optimistic. He has had the full week to get the Clans sorted and has enjoyed every minute of it.
Despite a defeat 6-1 to Manchester Storm, he feels that this extra time has allowed him to get a team to go toe to toe with the Nottingham Panthers in their next encounter.
Malcolm Cameron had this to say: “We feel comfortable in Nottingham and we’ve had success there, winning our two previous games so far and on both occasions, we were really committed to a game plan. We know the type of team that we are and we also know the kind of team they are and it’s a fun building to visit. They have good crowds and make plenty of noise so it’s fun to keep them quiet.
“It’s been a good week of work after a mixed bag for us last week. A good road results in Sheffield where we got a point against a team who are good in their own building.
“I started planning the week ahead coming home from Manchester and it was a week we haven’t had in a long time where there was no travel, no games so I wanted to take advantage of it.
“There are areas we wanted to get better in and we’ve worked through that through the course of the week.”
To add to the Clan Coach’s attacking option is the signing of 24-year-old Braylon Shmyr who played for the Guildford Flames during the 20/21 season but had to stop due to COVID.
Braylon, then played for the Swedish team Ostersunds, before jumping on the chance to return to the UK playing for the Glasgow Clan.
Braylon quoted “The last couple of years have been a struggle since I left Guildford and I had a few injury issues I had to contend with last year. I’m just looking for somewhere where I get to be myself and have a good, injury-free season.
“I had a good time in Sweden with Ostersunds and it was definitely a great experience for me before I came here but it has been frustrating at times, but I’m focussing on the good parts and staying strong mentally.
“Coming into a team halfway through the year isn’t new to me and can be difficult, but so far, I don’t think that will be the case here.”
Being given the number 91 jersey, he is already ready to start playing, Coach Cameron already has plans for him for the season.
Malcolm Cameron Clan coach quoted: “Braylon is going to add speed and quickness to our line-up and that was one of the things I was looking for when thinking of making an addition,
He has good outside speed, he’s quick and tight, has good offensive instincts and he’s got a little experience in our league.
Braylon is a good fit for what we’re looking for and I’m pleased to add him to the team for the remainder of the season.”
So, with the addition of a new player and the chance for the coach to sort out his team for future games, are the Playoffs certain? The Purple Army hopes that is the case.
