Celtic Edge Closer to Sealing Deals for Star Duo
Off the back of an impressive first season in charge for Ange Postecoglou, in which he led Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title and a League Cup win, he looks to get the ball rolling with transfers quickly.
Stand out performers Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers were instrumental to Celtic’s success this season and look to have been some of the best loan business the club have done for a number of years.
Due to their stellar performances, fans have long been clamouring for the club to sign both of them on permanent deals and cement them as important members of the squad moving forward as the Glasgow side returns to the Champions League next season.
Jota has provided a much needed energy in the side this season as a series of important goal contributions has helped Celtic reclaim the title from Glasgow rivals, Rangers. The Benfica winger has been told he is not part of new manager Roger Schmidt’s plans and the green light has been given for a permanent switch. News in recent days suggest the deal is a matter of days away with a £6.5m fee expected to be paid by the club to secure his services.
Carter-Vickers has come in and provided much needed stability to a Celtic back line that was calamitous the previous season. His excellent performances have caught the eye of potential suitors in the Premier League, but the Tottenham Hotspur man looks set to commit his future to the Parkhead club. There has been huge fluctuations this season regarding the fee it would cost the club to bring him in, but it is believed to be in a similar region to that of Jota’s.
The duo that arrived on deadline day last summer have left lasting impacts on the Celtic team and with the lure of Champions League football next season it is an opportunity the pair will not want to pass up on. If the deals can be wrapped up early, it will be a good indication for Celtic’s summer transfer dealings. Fans will hope this is the end of previous failings by the club in drawn out negotiations and deals that could have been.
