Today marks the one-year anniversary of Tyler the Creator's sixth studio album, ‘Call Me If You Get Lost.’ Since then, the record has been implemented as one of Tyler's best works. The Grammys awarded him with the best rap album of the year for the second time in his career. With firstly won the award in 2019 with his magnum opus, ‘Igor’. At the Grammy’s, the project managed to defeat huge albums that generated a lot of conversation, including Kanye West’s ‘Donda’ and Drake’s ‘Certified Lover Boy.’

The L.A rapper's discography over the past five years has been nothing short of special and it's highly impressive that he’s able to switch the style up on us on every single project. Tyler has before explained that in his discography, no album should sound the same and just creates the style of music that his life’s journey is taking him on.

Call Me If You Get Lost is the perfect summer album. Tyler talks about various topics in this album but what’s most clear throughout is his self-confidence. The 31-year-old is on top of the world mentally on this project. The best way to listen to this album is to grab a beverage, soak in the sun and indulge in this fantastic piece of work. Give this one a listen and make sure to keep an eye on these best five tracks!

5. JUGGERNAUT

The 14th track on the album, ‘Juggernaut’ serves as the final banger. Featuring Lil Uzi and Pharell Williams, all three men deliver quality verses behind a fire beat. The base on this track is too good. Listening to this track with some high-quality headphones is bound to make your head bop.

Even though the lyrical content on this track isn’t substantial, with a beat so loud and brilliantly produced, a lyrical story full of clever bars is bound to fly over our heads.

4. RISE!

Rise! Is the classic ‘F the haters’ track. However, Tyler explains how he doesn’t want the haters to leave but instead wants them to stay to watch him “rise to the top.” Tyler’s self-confidence is oozing here and rightly so.

The bridge featuring DAISY WORLD is brilliant. Not only does she have an amazing voice but the layers upon layers in the instrumental result in an immaculate moment. The ending of Tyler repeating “Please don’t go yet, please just stay” perfectly resembles the track’s meaning.

3. RUNITUP

'RUNITUP' may serve as a lesser track on the album, but its chorus is infectious. The song takes over a minute to get to its musical standpoint, but boy does it deliver. The beat drop on the song is fantastic. Tyler delivers an inspirational final verse that’s bound to get you hyped as the beat drops once again. The repeated “We gon’ run it up” in the background is the perfect track for on-stage performances.

Tyler used this track as the final song of his tour. It has a great upbeat instrumental and a message that definitely takes the audience home with a glaring smile on their faces.

2. CORSO

Corso is the 2nd track overall and it sets the scene of the album perfectly. It fits it to a T. The musical content in the track is indescribable. Tyler flexes his cars, money and fame. DJ drama appears at glimpses in the background as he hypes Tyler up. This just creates even more excitement that gets us intrigued to listen on further. The drums, the beat and the rapping are just flawless. The perfect opener. Tyler’s lyrical content is malignant. He raps about wanting this girl to break out of her relationship and bounce straight onto him. And the bridge is even more toxic. It gave us the perfect glimpse to show what is to come on how Tyler’s current ego is currently unmatched.

1. SWEET/ I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE

The magnum opus of the album, Sweet/ITYWTD serves as a two-part song which is a Tyler tradition throughout his discography. A lot of hype occurs during the wait for the song as its predecessors are always a massive highlight throughout Tyler's projects. It is no different here.

In ‘Sweet’ Tyler describes his experience with this girl. This part serves as a prequel to part two of the song and gives it so much more meaning. ‘I thought you wanted to dance’ has one of the best instrumentals of the new decade. The sample is infectious, it just sounds magical. Tyler discusses the girl (mentioned in the first part) being in another relationship. We have a wonderful feature from Fana Hues who is playing the part of the girl who describes her feelings between the two. Tyler brings out one of the best verses from the album in the last half. The bridge at the end of the song is immaculate. Both artists sang on top of each other angelically which finishes off the perfect summer song.

Since it has now been a year since this exceptional album, we can look forward to what Tyler has in store for us next year. If it’s as any good as, especially his last three, he should start being in the conversation as, not only a modern legend, but an all-time legendary figure of the hip-hop era.
