Tough Schedule for Glasgow Warriors Ahead of Season Opener

Glasgow Warriors have their work cut out as they head into their pre-season match this Friday, and they would not have it any other way. A victory in their opening game against Benetton will put them on the path for European Rugby next season.

However, before the season kick-off in earnest, the Warriors must battle Ulster in The Famous Grouse Pre-Season Challenge. This will indeed test the Warriors mettle, even though they already have one preseason match under their belt, a 22-17 victory over the Bulls at the Caledonian Stadium.

The last time Ulster and the Warriors clashed was in the United Rugby Championship where missed penalties and conversions meant the Warriors were defeated 35-29.

The Warriors, however, are looking to avenge that loss and with new players looking to prove themselves, it looks like the Warriors may give Ulster more than they bargained for.

Glasgow Warriors scrum half, George Horne said: “We’ve got a fair bit to work on, but we will put in the work next week and get stuck into Ulster next weekend.

“Scotstoun is such a special place and the fans make it a brilliant place to play. Friday nights at Scotstoun are even more special, and we can’t wait to get out there and give the fans something to be proud of.”

With last season’s disappointment in the mirror, the Glasgow Warriors have a chance at European Rugby next season and it starts here with Ulster.
