Glasgow Women 0-8 Celtic Women: Three things we learned

Another three points for Fran Alonso’s Ghirls

Yet again, Fran Alonso and Celtic came away with another three league points. They travelled to New Tinto Park and dominated from start to finish, scoring eight goals as Glasgow Women just couldn’t stop the ruthless display from the Hoops. Celtic are now second in the SWPFL , over taking rivals Rangers after they dropped two points against Heart of Midlothian. When speaking on the match, Alonso said: "This group is very, very strong, but now we recover and try to go again on Wednesday."

Amy Gallagher shines again

Celtic’s Amy Gallagher once again had a brilliant performance for the Hoops. Having scored a hat-trick in the previous cup game against Falkirk, Gallagher hoped to continue that form in the league, which she done in style with four goals. Gallagher got a first half hat-trick, before scoring her fourth in the 51st minute. When speaking on her performance, Gallagher said: "The players around me help, they create lots of chances so if I'm in the box I know a cross will come in, so I'm delighted to get four goals today."

Goals galore for the Hoops

The eight goals against Glasgow Women, means that Celtic have now scored 20 goals in their last five games, which will come to the delight of Alonso.

Celtic’s next fixture comes on Wednesday 18 January, when they welcome Motherwell Women to the Excelsior Stadium and will have an opportunity to close the gap and put the pressure on league leaders, Glasgow City.
