Malky Mackay departs Dingwall: Who's next for Ross County?
The Scottish Professional Football League(SPFL) hasn’t disappointed this season, already having three managerial changes in the 12-team division. With Hibernian, Rangers and St Johnstone all making a change in the dugout.
Now, the managerial search is underway with speculation flying around The Global Energy Stadium. The rumours have been circulating with some notable names being out forward with the likes of Scott Brown, Kevin Thomson and former St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson.
However, the emerging favourite seems to be former Morecambe manager Derek Adams. Adams left Morecambe on Monday, November 20 with the club statement saying: ‘ Derek Adams has today left Morecambe Football Club to pursue an opportunity elsewhere’. Also, the statement details that a contractual release clause was met to enable the move.
Adams has managed County in the past spending six years at the club in two different spells, being broken up by a short stint as Hibernian’s assistant manager.
In his first spell at the club, he achieved 1.59 points per game whereas in his second spell, he had 1.45. He won the PFA Scotland Manager of the Year in the 2011/12 season, winning promotion to the Scottish top flight. They then finished fifth that year which was an amazing achievement for the club.
His managerial credentials are superb and with previous experience at the club, it looks like he will be the man to lead the Staggies for the remainder of this season.
