This news drops just days before his fight against Regis Prograis for the junior welterweight championship.

Haney has expressed his feeling on his time as the world’s best lightweight, Haney said: “I did everything at 135 that I could. The biggest fight for me was making that Gervonta Davis fight, and his side showed no interest in making the fight. I’ve outgrown the division.”

The 25-year-old is now targeting bigger fish as he looks to move up in weight class and add to his already impressive resume, he said: “I now make my quest to 140 to become a two-division champion.

“After this fight, I look to become a three-division and move up to 147, God willing that I’m successful.”

Haney’s upcoming fight against Prograis is far from simple. Despite having one loss, Prograis still boasts a phenomenal record of 29 wins, with 24 wins coming by way of knockout. Both his skill and power are not to be taken slightly, and Haney will have to be at his best if he wants to not only beat his opponent and show boxing purists that he truly is “The Dream.”
