Kevin Durant traded to the Phoenix Suns

The NBA trade deadline this year has been one for the history books. With multiple All-Stars on different teams, it has been a long time since the league has seen so much change overnight. Arguably the biggest deal was Brooklyn Nets player Kevin Durant being traded to the Phoenix Suns.

The trade sent Kevin Durant and T.J. Warren to the Suns, with the Nets receiving Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and four future draft picks. With the Nets management releasing a statement to fans that they planned on building a team around Durant, this came as a shock to everyone.

The Suns undeniably become a championship level team after acquiring Durant. The combination of All-star level players, Devin Booker and Chris Paul, with Durant will be lethal offensively. The only worry will be the defensive side as they lose three great defenders, especially Bridges who was a defensive player of the year candidate. Overall, the Suns look to have won this trade by a landslide.

The Nets seem as though they are going into full rebuild mode. Despite losing one of their superstar players, the draft picks they received could lead to prospects signing in the future. One good thing the Nets can take is that they become a great defensive team, with Bridges, Johnson and Crowder as well as Dorian Finney-Smith, a player they received in the Kyrie Irving trade.

Overall, the Suns have become a very dangerous team in the western conference. They made the finals in 2021 so this year, there isn't much stopping them winning the championship with Durant. The Nets will not be very good following this trade. Only time will tell if they can rebuild the team to the level it was at only a few years ago.
