The Scot travel blogging like no one before
From Copacabana to chatting with an Escobar; Scottish YouTuber, CallumAbroad, takes his 37 thousand subscribers on journeys so absurd they sound made up.
From Coatbridge, Callum Mills tagline on YouTube is "A wee Scottish lad on his travels", which is a major understatement. He piloted his channel with a vlog of the Pyramids of Giza, a holiday that may not seem outlandish to most, but this was followed up by a thirty-minute video of him entering the restricted areas of the Pyramids.
No corner of the world is safe from Callum’s vlogs, with content being produced in Pakistan, Palestine, India, Brazil, Lebanon and more.
Perhaps his most notable vlog came in Syria. He was left stunned when his YouTube video appeared on a Syrian news outlet alleging that he met up with Bashar al-Assad’s regime and embarrassed them by trying to expose corruption. Despite this, Callum has claimed he’d return to Syria in a heartbeat.
This isn’t the only time that he has found himself in trouble with the authorities with an attempt to produce YouTube content to blame. While in Islamabad, Callum caught wind of a large transgender community and was desperate to interview a member. Unfortunately, he was taken to the police station for questioning on his way to set up the interview. By the time he got out, news reporters and a crowd outside the station to ask him what he was up to.
Per his latest video, Callum is currently in Colombia and it could be his wildest adventure yet. Originally travelling to Cerete to visit the Alfredo Morelos Fundacional, he let his curiosity and adventurous instincts get the best of him again as he travelled to a further two cities in Colombia. In a video captioned ‘From Coatbridge to Colombia’, Callum showcases some of the musical talents in The Bronx of Bogota but it’s his next trip in this country that is truly unbelievable.
After flying to Medellin, Callum tweeted ‘You’ll never guess who I just met...’ and seriously, you would never guess. A follow-up tweet revealed that it was Robert Escobar, brother of Pablo Escobar. On a tour in Medellin, Callum was shown Escobar’s last car, the tomb of Pablo Escobar and even his place of death. Along with this, he was informed that the hit TV Drama ‘Narcos’ strays from the truth of what life in Medellin was like.
Callum teased his next adventure on Twitter with fans wary as to what this one may have in store for him. After posting a series of WhatsApp messages, it looks likely that the man from Coatbridge will be documenting a visit to ISIS soon.
