4 ways to relax after a long day
1. Light some candles:
After a long day studying or working, many students will be doing both, especially in this economic climate (thanks, Rishi). Lighting candles in your flat, room, or student accommodation is a great way to relax. This will help your mind unwind and chill, relieving stress and anxiety, helping you recover from a busy day and setting you up for more peaceful and restful sleep.
2. Listen to relaxing music:
There isn't anything better than coming in from a busy or stressful day and putting on some music. Something chill, even just typing into YouTube or Spotify relaxing music and putting on the first playlist you see, can help you wind down. Some of the best ones I have found also have background nature noises, which really helps you feel stress-free.
3. Keep your phone in a separate room for a couple of hours:
After being on your phone or computer all day long, whether at work or studying, takes a toll on your mental health and can leave you physically and mentally exhausted. Sitting and doing college work or answering emails at work can throw your brain into overdrive, with no way to turn it off when you get back home. Although extremely tempting to sit on TikTok or Instagram, if you just put your phone away in the kitchen on charge and catch up on your favourite TV show or read a book. Even sitting and doing nothing for a while helps with your sleep and overall brain fog moments.
4. Change into some cosy & comfy clothes:
This is one of the best ways to relax; as soon as I get home, I first want to get out of the clothes I've been in all day. Whether that be the favourite pair of joggers, pj's, oversized comfy t-shirt and shorts, that is up to you. Changing out of your work clothes or clothes you've been in all day automatically takes some stress off. Get under a duvet or chill on the sofa and immediately feel more at ease. Add an oodie to the mix, and you are on to a winner.
