Premier League: Three things we learned as Arsenal remain top of the league

Sean Dyche off to dream start as Everton stun Arsenal

EVERTON 1 – 0 ARSENAL

James Tarkowski’s 60th minute goal secured three points for Everton and gave Sean Dyche a fantastic welcome back to the Premier League.

As expected, Arsenal dominated possession and controlled the game. Although with 15 shots and only three on target, it was their conversion that let them down.

It was a classic Dyche set up: very defensive, holding out to snatch a winner and it was two of his ex-players from Burnley that got the job done, with the assist from Dwight McNeil and finish from Tarkowski.

Although they remain top of the league, the Gunners received a blow to their title run, facing defeat for only the second time this season. They will have to pick themselves back up and hope this result was just a small bump in the road. They will get their chance of redemption when they host Brentford at the Emirates on Saturday.

Everton gained a vital three points as they continue their fight to avoid relegation. However, they will need to hope that this result will build their confidence as they face Liverpool in the Merseyside derby at Anfield next Monday.

Wolves hound Liverpool in dominant performance as they climb out of the relegation zone

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS 3 – 0 LIVERPOOL

Goals from Craig Dawson, Ruben Neves and an own-goal from Joel Matip helped collect all three points for Wolves.

Julen Lopetegui’s men took advantage of a deflated Liverpool side and showed their ruthlessness to keep a clean sheet and stay in control of the game.

The Reds seem to be hitting new lows each week and are showing no signs of their former selves from last season. How much further can they fall?

Wolves will be relieved to rise above the relegation zone, especially with a great result like this. They travel to St. Mary’s Stadium to face bottom of the league Southampton on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have yet to win a Premier League match in 2023, with their only win this year coming in the third round of the FA Cup against Wolves. They host Everton at Anfield in a must win game for both sides.

Harry Kane becomes Tottenham’s all-time leading goal scorer as he helps defeat Man City

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR 1 – 0 MANCHESTER CITY

Harry Kane’s record-breaking goal was the difference as Spurs stay within one point of fourth place.

Tottenham took the lead in the 15th minute and managed to hold onto it, showing their resilience and defensive prowess.

The Citizens were kept quiet for the majority of the game, with Kevin De Bruyne left out of the starting line-up. Erling Haaland was left out of the play for large portions of the match after not having a single shot for the first time in the Premier League this season.

Spurs earn a valuable three points in their hopes of getting into the top four. They head to the King Power Stadium to face Leicester on Saturday.

Guardiola’s men fail to capitalise on Arsenal’s loss earlier in the weekend which would have seen them just two points behind. They will return to the Etihad where they will face Aston Villa on Sunday.
