NBA East All-Stars: The top six players
The Eastern Conference is very often considered the weaker of the two conferences in the NBA. Although this may be the case, it does not lack star players by any means. The All-Star selections for the Eastern Conference have recently been released and with that, here are the top six players that were selected.
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Giannis has been in the conversation for the best player in the league for years now. This year is no different as he is averaging 32 points and leading the league with 12 rebounds while leading his Milwaukee Bucks to become the second-best team in the conference. He is also playing great defensively, therefore, it is no surprise he is the captain of the East team.
Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant is the most gifted scorer of our generation. With him averaging 30 points per game on 55% shooting from the field, he has been seen carrying his Brooklyn Nets team in the frequent absence of teammate Kyrie Irving. There is no surprise at all that Durant made the starting lineup of the team.
Jayson Tatum
Tatum has found himself at the top of many fans' MVP lists as he is averaging 31 points per game on good efficiency, as well as transforming into a great defensive player. He is leading his Boston Celtics team to become one of the best teams in the league so he has more than deserved his spot on the team.
Donovan Mitchell
Donovan Mitchell has been putting out brilliant offensive performances this season. Although his 27 points per game may not seem as impressive as his All-Star teammates, he has had five games with 40 points or more this season and we are only halfway through. One of the said games was a crazy 71-point game against the Chicago Bulls which is the joint eighth for most points in a single game.
Kyrie Irving
Kyrie has had one of the most controversial five-year stretches of any player in NBA history. This year could be his most talked about as he was suspended for anti-semitic behaviour. He has not played much this season but when he has played, he has averaged 27 points per game and his Brooklyn Nets side have looked so much better. He has recently been traded to the Dallas Mavericks so his season could end very differently from how it started.
Joel Embiid
Embiid is a player who has gone under the radar a lot in the media. On average, he is leading the league in scoring with 33 points, ten rebounds, a block, and a steal every game. He is also leading his team to the third spot in the conference. This has made some fans question why he wasn’t an All-Star starter but this is a testament to the quality of the players in the conference.
