Cuku – Neighbourhood Provisions
Cuku is a one-stop shop on Kirklee Road, just off Great Western Road. Not only does Cuku sell a range of household essentials, Italian oils and pasta and a range of different and exciting alcoholic beverages. They also have a broad range of deli meats and cheeses that can be purchased from their counters.
Inside Cuku, there’s a lovely seating area for their café. The menu ranges from small plates, nibbles on the side, pizzas, favourites and sharing plates, all of which are priced significantly well while being ethically sourced.
The Cheese
Cuku uses ethically sourced cheeses made from goat, cow and sheep milk. Their impressive cheeses can be bought in slices, big blocks or even as a sharing board when sitting in their restaurant/cafe area.
The Coffee
Sit-in and takeaway coffee can be bought at Cuku, and they also sell the coffee beans on their shelves that they use daily.
I recently ordered an oat milk latte from Cuku, which was a delightful experience. Sometimes I find that at generic coffee shops, there isn’t much thought into making the coffee, which can taste burnt. However, the baristas at Cuku make the best coffees to sip on in a pleasant atmosphere.
The Bakery
Cuku offers fresh and baked everyday pastries, which shows through the way they taste. I ordered the pain au chocolat, and although I went there in the late afternoon when the pastries weren’t as fresh, it made me wonder what they are like in the morning because this pain au chocolat was truly a delight which paired perfectly with the oat latte.
Cuku also gets fresh bread from the local Freedom Bakery, delivered every morning that you can buy in the store.
The Alcohol
In their store, Cuku provides an enormous range of wines and beers as well as different beverages like alcoholic milk (Panther Milk) from all over the world. If you are overwhelmed by the variety of beverages, the staff are very helpful with recommending products.
