Kilmarnock host crucial Scottish Premiership clash for current champions in Celtic

By Luca Menichetti

On Sunday afternoon, Celtic will attempt to continue their unbeaten run in the Scottish Premiership when they face Kilmarnock.

With four wins in the last five league games, as well as a cup semi-final win over Aberdeen, Celtic will go into this one with confidence.

Add to that a 3-1 victory over German side RB Leipzig in the Champions League and it’s hard to see what Kilmarnock can do to stop this run, having trouble getting the season started with a 3-2 loss against Dundee last time out.

The East Ayrshire side have won three of the last five league games but have also had troubles since the beginning of the season, specifically with disciplinary record being very poor receiving five red cards in all competitions with defender Joe Wright collecting two reds so far this season.

Kilmarnock boss, Derek McInnes, calls this fixture on Sunday the “toughest of the lot” but Kilmarnock have already shown this season that Rugby Park can be a tough place to win, as Rangers discovered in their recent 1-0 defeat, as well as in last season when Kilmarnock managed to defeat Celtic twice at Rugby Park.

This game could either end in two ways, either it will be a Celtic thrashing, or it could result in a Killie win. It could be a repeat of the Rangers game, and it could be shown as a difficult day at the office for Celtic as seen before with-it being Killie allowing lots of possession to their opponents, while still offering lots of pressure to try and steal a win.

Celtic winger, Nicolas Kuhn, continues the good form he has been on so far this season. The German international has got four goals/assists in his last three league appearances alongside a brace against RB Leipzig on Tuesday. Daizen Maeda is another player for Kilmarnock to look out for, especially after getting a hat trick for the Japanese international against Aberdeen in the league cup. It will be a challenge for the team as Celtic have got the best defence record in the league so far, only conceding three goals so far in the league, but despite that, Kilmarnock are going to try and put pressure onto Celtic’s defence on Sunday.
