How to cope with Deadline season.

Deadlines are stressful for everyone

As the academic year comes to an end the deadlines start to get closer and time seems to speed up. Don’t worry you are not alone, and we are all feeling the pressure.

Some ways to make your life easier is by planning ahead. Take a note of your deadlines and important dates like assessments. Writing things down helps not only to organise your thoughts but it also takes them out of your mind. Giving you some breathing room and allowing you to take action.

Don’t start by the most urgent one, unless is due in 24 hours, start with simple tasks, things you can get done in a couple of hours to start taking things off the list. Sooner rather than later you will be done with half the list and feel the stress and anxiety disappear.

Deadlines can feel like a weight on your shoulders, all you want to do is get rid of them. This same pressure stops you from doing work, is vicious cycle. So set yourself a timer and get done as much as you can, try to avoid distractions. The place where you work can affect this greatly, some people find it easier to work in groups, have study sessions with your friends and help each other out. If on the contrary you can’t focus with people around you, go to a library, or a nice quiet café.

The important thing is to do something about it and not letting the pressure get to you, it might be hard but remember you are not alone. Not only can I assure you most students are feeling the same, but, there are organizations that can help. Swing by the student association. They can help, they have study sessions going on regularly and workshops to help you out.

The first thing is to start, once you get going you will be finished before you realised and ready to enjoy the sun without worrying about your classes.
