The draw for the quarter final of the Scottish Cup took place after Hearts booked their place in the next round. Hearts were drawn at home to Dundee, Livingston host St. Johnstone, Queens Park travel to Aberdeen and Celtic take on Hibs at Parkhead.

The weekend’s round of Scottish Cup fixtures began at Somerset Park where Scott Brown’s Ayr United took on Hibs in an action-packed Friday night. The match was settled on the 87th minute when Rocky Bushiri put his side in front. The referee had a hard time keeping order in Ayrshire as he awarded five yellow cards between both teams.

Paul Hartley’s League One side, Cove Rangers travelled to Livingston to take on David Martindale and his men. It came as no shock that Livingston were three goals to the good come 90 minutes after Ryan McGowan opened the scoring on the 25th minute which followed by two more goals from Tete Yengi in the last 10 minutes.

Dundee played host at Dens Park to Airdrieonians in a four-goal thriller for the home side leaving Rhys McCabe’s travelling contingent heading back to Airdrie empty handed. Clark Robertson opened the scoring on the 13th minute with Lyall Cameron adding to that lead on the 25th minute. The lead continued just before half time with goals coming from Oluwaseun Adewumi in the 40th minute and Lyall Cameron putting his name on the scoresheet again but on the 44th minute this time. As much as the scoreline tells the story Dundee completely dominated the match ending it with 62% possession, 12 corners, 16 shots and over 9 of them on target.

Late drama was also evident in Perth where St. Johnstone hosted John Rankin’s Hamilton. Hamilton lacked discipline in the match where they had over 14 fouls and three yellow cards. Saints secured their place in the quarter finals after Adama Sidibeh scored their only goal on the 87th minute.

Barry Robson’s Raith Rovers travel to Parkhead to take on the current cup holders Celtic. Brendan Rodgers’ side put five past the Rovers as Daizen Maeda opened the scoring early doors and later secured himself a hattrick. The other goals came from Luke McCowan and Yang.

Dunfermline travelled to Pittodrie hoping for Scottish Cup glory, but Aberdeen had other plans. The match ended with three goals in favour of the Reds. Goals from Gueye, Jensen and Kevin Nisbet seen off the Pars.

Serious upset at Ibrox as Philippe Clement’s Rangers fail to see off championship side Queen’s Park in the original Glasgow derby. Rangers had over 25 shots with only nine on target and failed to put the ball in the back of the net whereas Queens Park had only one shot in the entire match and scored. The goal from Drozd came on the 70th minute leaving Rangers not much time for thought. Calum Ferrie the goalkeeper for Queens Park had an outstanding game, and was the man of the match, having pulled off many great saves including a penalty from James Tavernier in the last minute which would have put Rangers level. Clement left the stadium to fans waiting outside to express their anger as Rangers supporters claim it was the worst defeat in over 60 years.

The weekend of fixtures was rounded off with Hearts travelling to Paisley to face St. Mirren. The match defined the drama that took place throughout the fixtures as it went through extra-time to penalties after finishing one goal each in the 90. Craig Gordon was the star of the show after helping his side win the penalty shootout and putting Hearts through to the next round.
