Extra_Ordinary: Finnieston's newest restaurant

By Ben Wilson

Have you ever dreamed of travelling Asia? Admiring the history of Japan, the nightlife of Seoul or the busy streets of Hong Kong? Well look no further. Glasgow's newest restaurant has opened in Finnieston. Headed up by chef Tobias Fiegel who blends flavours from all over Asia under one roof, Extra_Ordinary is located at 1132 Argyle Street, a short journey from Glasgow's city centre.

The sleek minimalist design of the restaurant allows a good flow of energy, where diners don't feel overcrowded and have a truly authentic experience. The smells of the fresh ingredients being turned into bao and other succulent dishes stimulate your appetite. The clash of the wok rattles from the kitchen with the chefs hard at work. Guests will be welcomed with a menu filled with a variety of small plates, sides and desserts such as a miso butterscotch ricotta.

Chef Fiegel said: “Opening Extra_Ordinary is an incredibly exciting opportunity that enables me to combine my passion for various Asian cuisines and share them with the people of Glasgow. Essentially, this is the cuisine I like to prepare and eat, and I'm excited to have the chance to work with products and innovative techniques that I truly love in this setting. Our menu has been meticulously developed to provide an exceptional blend of traditional Asian foods, with many components made from scratch and reinvented using creative recipes.”

Extra_Ordinary should be a stop on any Scottish foodie's bucket list with the small yet flavour packed menu sitting on our doorstep. This will add to the forever expanding Glasgow food scene showing what the country’s first city has to offer.
