Five budget friendly activities in Glasgow to help you beat the winter blues
Let's face it. The start of the year can be quite depressing, the weather’s not great, your bank account is still recovering from the festive period, and so on. Many are feeling quite low and spending most of their time indoors.
So, in no particular order, here are five budget-friendly things to do in Glasgow to keep you busy this cold season.
Glasgow Film Festival
The Glasgow Film Festival (GFF) is an annual event which showcases independent films and filmmakers throughout the tail end of February and the beginning of March. Highlighted films include the opener for the festival, Tornado (2025), described as a “survival thriller set in the 1700s as a young woman finds herself caught in a dangerous situation when she crosses paths with a gang of ruthless criminals.”
Ticket prices range, with concession rates at £9.60, reduced prices and some showings are free. The GFF is a great way to discover new films and broaden your perspective on indie cinema on a budget.
