Stranger Things star Sadie Sink has joined the cast of the upcoming Spider-Man 4 film alongside Tom Holland, according to Hollywood publication, Deadline.

This marks the first casting announcement for the film, which is highly anticipated by fans as the sequel to 2021s Spider-Man: No Way Home.

As of yet, it hasn’t been announced which character Sink will be playing, which has led to mass online fan speculation.

Some theories for who she could be playing include the love interest of Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy, who has been portrayed previously in films by Bryce Dallas Howard in the Tobey Maguire films and by Emma Stone in The Amazing Spider-Man films alongside Andrew Garfield.

Another popular idea online is that she could be the X-Men character Jean Grey/The Pheonix, which would further introduce mutants and the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe following last year’s Deadpool and Wolverine.

Spider-Man 4 is to be directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton and is expected to begin production later this year. The film is set to hit cinema screens on July 31 2026.
