Scotland vs Faroe Islands World Cup Qualifier Review
On a night of epic goal scoring proportions, Scotland secured a second World Cup qualifier win against the Faroe Islands to the delight of the some 4500 fans . The 7-1 victory was more than enough to satisfy Pedro Martínez Losa- or Pedro Martínez Winna- as he is becoming known as to fans.
Chloe Arthur and Chirsty Grimshaw marked the occasion with their first international goals as well a debut goal for Jenna Clark. Other goal scorers for Scotland included Erin Cuthbert, Martha Thomas, and Claire Emslie. Mean while , Maria Biskopstø grabbed the Faroe Island’s only goal.
Despite the victory, there was some concern for Scotland after player of the match Erin Cuthbert had to be stretchered off the pitch in the final minutes of the game.
Goal scorer Chloe Arthur said: “I’m delighted to get on the score sheet, scoring one at Hampden and then to get another one is even more special.
“It’s really important to get a good start in these qualification games, we can go back to our club knowing we got the two results and hopefully Erin Cuthbert will be okay, she’s got a key role in this team, so we do need her fit and healthy.
“The crowd are like extra players for us and having them here it’s so nice to have them back. We’re so grateful to be at Hampden and to have them here with us.
“It’s been great playing under Pedro Martínez Losa, the girls and I have really enjoyed it. We’ve had a short amount of time to put together what he wants, but with two wins we’ll look over everything and see if there is anything that can be approved on.”
