Premier League: Three Things we Learned

City get win versus Chelsea (Man City- 1 Chelsea- 0)

Manchester City extended their lead over Chelsea in the premier league table to 13 points and currently sit 11 points clear at the top, Chelsea will begin to feel that their push for the title may be at an end.

If City continue to win, now their 12th win in a row, the title may be wrapped up sooner than expected as they continue to blow everyone away with their scintillating attacking football while remaining resolute in defence.

All eyes from Chelsea’s point of view will be on Thomas Tuchel, the German Coach surprised everyone with his team selection, leaving the inform Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mason Mount on the bench, two players who would’ve offered a creative spark that his team desperately lacked.

City, despite only winning by one, made a mockery of Chelsea by forcing the blues to make countless unforced errors and deny them any real chances on goal throughout the whole match.

Coutinho dream debut as Villa complete unlikely comeback (Villa- 2 Man Utd-2)

Aston Villa recently confirmed the signing of former Liverpool player Phillipe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona until the end of the season, and will offer a creative spark moving forward for Villa and Gerrard. With a goal and assist on his debut, it only looks up for the little magician.

Man United never fail to embarrass themselves week in week out, with recent reports of dressing room unrest causing certain players to turn on interim coach Ralf Rangnick, with players not adapting to his style of play, and it showed in their game versus Aston Villa as they continue to lack an edge to see games out or to put in a solid performance.

Despite being two goals up curtesy of Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United never seemed confident at the back, and once Coutinho was subbed onto the pitch, the game turned on his head as he set up Jacob Ramsey before he equalised with the previous goal scorer setting up the Brazilian.

Newcastle miss chance to escape drop zone (Newcastle- 1 Watford -1)

This is the first transfer window under new owners for Newcastle, and they haven’t wasted any time by bringing in Kieran Tripoier and Chris Wood with more signings expected. They however failed to escape the drop zone at Watford’s expense and will need to step their game up if they are to avoid dropping to the championship.

Watford remain out of the bottom three for the time being, but their performances have not been up to a standard that a strict board over there will appreciate. Despite Ranieri currently out of the relegation spots, he will be sweating over his future with Watford’s history in sacking managers and will need to step up his game.
