Glasgow Warriors ready for next opponents despite injury woes

An away defeat to Ospreys has left the Warriors with a bitter taste in their mouth, as two tries from the home team led to a 37-17 defeat. To add to their woes, quite a few first team players have been injured.

The main three in the squad that have been injured are: Jack Dempsey, who sustained a rib injury in the first-half of Saturday’s match against Ospreys and is receiving treatment and rehabilitation from the medical staff. He is being assessed and has been ruled out of training and further games. Also, on the injured list is captain Kyle Steyn, who has a hamstring injury from the Round Two game against Cardiff Rugby, which rules him out of training this week. Jamie Dobie takes part in training this week as part of a phased return to fitness, while he continues rehabilitation on his hamstring. But when he can return to the field is unknown.

The big issue amongst rugby fans is will they be ready internationally as the Autumn Nations draws near? Jack Dempsey plays for Australia and both Kyle Steyn and Jamie Dobie represent Scotland.

However, despite the mounting injuries, the Warriors look hopeful against the Bulls at Scotstoun on Saturday 8, with kick-off at 7:45pm.

Warriors flanker, Thomas Gordon said: “We know the Bulls pride themselves on being a physical team, so we know how important it will be for us to front up and meet that physicality. We’ve gone over our game plan in the team meetings this week and we’re all clear on the job we must do. Now we must go out and do it on Saturday.

“Everyone in this team draws off the energy of the crowd. Having the fans cheering you on makes a massive, massive difference, and we know how important their support is. We want to give them something to cheer about, we know our run of form hasn’t been great, but they keep putting their faith in us. It’s time for us to repay that faith.”

So, hopefully the Warriors have what it takes to match the physicality of the Bulls and that those injured will be declared fit by the time of the Autumn Nations.
