Bronze for men’s Team GB as World Championships take place in Liverpool

The star-studded men's British team is made up of many a medallist, with a mix of both promising new talent and seasoned professionals. Last night, their talent shone through as they recovered from a very tough start to climb their way back onto the podium. This comes off the back of a gold in the Commonwealth Games for the team competition and another gold in the European Championships, both within a few weeks of each other.

China took the gold medal with Japan taking the silver. It was a close competition with just 10 points separating first and third. It was an incredible show to watch with the best gymnastics in the world, putting their best foot forward and producing many a flashy and complex routine.

Jake Jarman is such a powerhouse when it comes to the floor. He showcased his immense skill last night with huge, explosive tumbles and solid landings to keep his composure and get Team GB off to a very strong start in the competition.

A specialty piece of his, Courtney Tulloch wowed the crowd on the rings. As the double Commonwealth champion, it is no surprise that Tulloch put out a strong performance, showing his experience to remain calm and steady under the intense amount of pressure. He showed not even the slightest hint of a wobble while doing some extremely complicated and intricate moves. After this performance, it is not hard to see why Tulloch is a staple in this very successful team.

The current World champion on this apparatus, Joe Frazer scored a massive 15 on the parallel bars. His performance was one of grace and strength, an even more impressive feat considering he fell on the pommel horse earlier in the competition. Frazer was the first British gymnast to win gold on parallel bars and he will be hoping to add another to his collection at the individual competition at the weekend.

James Hall put out an impressive performance on high bar, amidst a plethora of falls and falters from the other competitors. In the first part of this competition, it seemed as though the medals would be decided purely on who managed to stay on the apparatus, however, Hall didn’t let this get to him and completed an incredibly solid routine with an even more solid landing. Another experienced team member who showed his professionalism on the night.

A night to remember for the team, their performance will surely down as one of the greatest comebacks in competition history. They compete again on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the individual competitions.
