The Manchester Arena played host to yet another all-British boxing grudge match as the two former world champions finally collided after years of back and forth, as well as years of UK fight fans thinking that the fight would never happen.

British boxing has never failed to disappoint in producing some of the most fierce and bitter grudge matches between two fellow countrymen with a long list that includes the likes of: Chris Eubank Vs Nigel Benn, Lennox Lewis Vs Frank Bruno, Carl Froch Vs George Groves and Anthony Joshua Vs Dillian Whyte. Khan versus Brook is another fight that can be added to that historic list.

Khan and Brook have always had a bitter hatred for one another, stemming back to their days as amateurs, and the two were promoted in such a way that would see them on a collision course, both winning world titles, however the fight never managed to come to fruition while the two Englishmen were in their primes.

With the two of them at the tail ends of their highly respectable careers, they finally agreed to end their feud with a fight to settle the score and a fight that would determine who the better man was.

That man on the night proved to be the former IBF welterweight champion of the world, Kell Brook, with the Sheffield fighter, brutally stopping his rival in the sixth round at the sold-out Manchester Arena.

Amir Khan seemed to have been shaken during numerous times of the fight but fought on, showing his fans, what an immense heart the fighter has. Kell Brook was all over Khan from the sound of the first bell and it would’ve taken a lot for the Bolton native to overcome the stronger Brook.

The referee had seen enough come round six and waved the fight off, with Khan taking too much punishment for his liking.

Amir Khan hinted after the fight about retiring from the sport saying: “I need to sit down with my family. That love for the sport isn’t there anymore like it was before. I felt quite flat, I think that’s maybe a sign I should be calling it a day, but let’s see.”

Could Chris Eubank Jr. be next for Kell Brook?
