Premier League: Three key Moment

With a league cup final played out, some teams had a chance to rest ahead of their next fixture, but sides are still scrapping at both ends of the table and there were plenty more moments of drama and loads of goals.

Bielsa Sacked after Spurs Humiliation (Leeds- 0 Spurs- 4)

It’s the end of the line for Bielsa at Leeds United. The Argentine previously had done wonders at Elland Road, getting them back in the top flight and then having a steady first season in the Premier League. His reluctance to change his tactics to help the team ultimately cost him his job, with 60 goals now conceded this season and in real danger of falling back into the Championship. Former Leipzig boss Jesse Marsch is rumoured to take over in the coming days to help give the club a boost.

There was much speculation in the Spurs camp about Antonio Conte’s future after the Italian said himself that he may not be fit for the role. This was after they slumped to a midweek defeat versus Burnley. They are still in this top four race, but are seen as outsiders to get it with Arsenal playing many games less and are further up the table and Manchester United still hovering around this area.

It was domination from Tottenham Hotspur, they soared into a 3-0 lead in the first half before Son and Kane linked up once again in the second half to become the deadliest duo in the history of the Premier League, with the two of them combining for over 37 goals, beating Didier Drogba’s and Frank Lampard’s record of 36.

City get Hard Fought win at Everton (Everton- 0 Man City -1)

Manchester City knew a win here would move them six points clear with Liverpool not playing due to their involvement in the league cup final. Pep Guardiola’s side have surrendered a massive lead at the top of the table, so they cannot afford to drop anymore silly points with Liverpool breathing down their necks in the hunt for the title.

It’s the complete opposite for Everton and Frank Lampard, they are stuck in a relegation battle. They were never expected to get anything from this game, so the team hopes that wins will come soon in their bid to avoid their first ever relegation from the top flight of English football.

City may have scraped the win after Phil Foden pounced on Michael Keane’s mistake, but will feel relieved that they didn’t’ give what seemed to be a clear penalty after Rodri appeared to control the ball with his arm in the box, but VAR deemed the incident to be “inconclusive” and City walked away with all three points.

United toothless versus Watford (Man Utd- 0 Watford--0)

Manchester United are falling further and further behind the top four after they dropped even more points. The future of key players such as Cristiano Ronaldo remain in doubt, as there are talks he will not remain at Old Trafford if the team doesn’t qualify for the Champions League. There is still much discussion about who will be in the dugout and it seemingly is having an effect on the team’s performances.

Despite holding out for an impressive draw, Watford know they still have a mountain to climb to escape relegation and will feel that it’s coming to the point of the season where draws may not be enough. It will be tough for Roy Hodgson and his team to remain in the division this season.

It was chance after chance for Manchester United, they certainly had plenty opportunities to win the game with guilt edged chances missed by Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo, with the latter hitting the post. Watford remained resilient to stop Unite putting the ball in the back of the net, but lacked any real chances on goal until Sarr broke through late on in the game for his chances to be squandered.
