Dundee United win SWPL2 Title

Dundee United secured the SWPL2 title before they walked onto the pitch at Kilmarnock after Glasgow Girls and Women lost 2-0 against St Johnstone. They then went on to blow Kilmarnock out the park with a 4-0 victory which made their promotion celebrations that little bit sweeter.

It is uncertain who else will be joining them in the SWPL1 next season under the new SPFL model, but Glasgow Girls and Women seem likely to join them however, Kilmarnock are close on their tail.

After winning the league 23 points clear of Glasgow Women and Girls after being unbeaten for 17 games, Graeme Hart’s side will compete in the topflight for the first time in their history. Tammy Harkin also made her own piece of club history as her hat trick against Killie sealed her position as the club’s top goal scorer.

It hasn’t been fully confirmed how many SWPL2 teams will be able to move up to the new SWPL1, but it looks as though the league may become more diverse and exciting than ever before.
