FA Cup Roundup: Victories set up Massive Semi Final tie

The FA cup played out it’s quarterfinal fixtures and there are still many underdog teams left as they look to cause an upset once again in the world’s oldest domestic cup.

Chelsea get the job done at Boro (Middlesbrough- 0 Chelsea -2)

Chelsea will once again play in the semifinal of the FA cup after they breezed past giant killers Middlesbrough. Chelsea still have lots to fight for this season, they are still in the Champions League as they look to retain their crown and with them still in the cup, it could still end up being a very successful season despite all the scrutiny around the club at the moment.

The Journey comes to an end for Chris Wilder and Middlesbrough, they have shocked many fans, knocking out the likes of Spurs and Manchester United, but the reigning European champions proved to be too much for his team as they were brushed aside.

Palace through after dominating win (Palace- 4 Everton -0)

Crystal Palace progressing has set up a semifinal tie versus their London rivals in Chelsea, they dismantled Everton in style to once again play at Wembley and to potentially cause an upset in what is turning into a successful season for Patrick Vieira.

The misery goes on for Everton, their season is just getting worse and worse. A humiliating defeat in the cup however is the least of their concerns at the moment as they look to fight for their safety in the top flight, a division where they have never been relegated from before. The future looks bleak at the club and many are already starting to question whether Frank Lampard is the right man for the job.

City Meet Expectations in Easy Victory (Southampton- 1 Man City -4)

Manchester will play in the semifinal of the FA cup for the fifth time in six seasons after they dismantled a sorry Southampton. They keep on progressing in the hope of a treble winning season, with them still in Europe and top of the Premier League table. They are continuing to play like the favourites in every competition they play in and it will be hard for anyone competing to beat them.

Southampton had no chance in this game from how it progressed. Despite equalising, it was only going one way as City continued to dominate. The Saints’ season is all but over at this point, with no trophies left to fight for and no threat of relegation. It can be seen again as a mildly successful season for them compared to previous years.

Liverpool edge out Forest (Liverpool- 1 Nottingham Forrest-0)

Liverpool’s hunt for the quadruple goes on as they edge out the final championship side left in the competition. The chance for a historic season for Klopp and his team goes on with them still competing on all fronts, but know they will have to treat every game between now and the end of may as cup finals as they look to pip City in the title race. This victory has set up a mouthwatering tie against league rivals Man City and it promises to be an epic showdown between two of the greatest teams in Europe.

Nottingham Forest can be proud of what they have achieved in the cup, knocking out the likes of Arsenal and current holders Leicester. They will look to learn from this in hope of one day returning to the top division and to be back at the top. The two-time European champions will continue to fight to return to where they believe they should be.
