Glasgow Clan's Playoff Exit

Despite dealing with COVID related issues and having to play back-to-back games. The Glasgow Clan fought hard during the playoffs, only to fall short at the second leg against the Cardiff Devils.

The Clan won their first game in Cardiff by four goals to three but couldn’t hold it together for the second leg played in Braehead, in which the Cardiff Devils won by two goals to zero making it five to four on aggregate in the Devils favour.

The Devils are looking to win the competition in Nottingham when they play the Guildford Flames.

The Clan was hoping to have a repeat of the 2014 season where they hosted the second leg of a quarter final. That time they won 4-0 and then won 5-1 in the second leg against the Nottingham Panthers. They made it to the finals that season but lucked out. Shane Starett Glasgow clan goaltender, who had a great first leg game did his best to keep the pucks out but some bad luck prevented this.

Another player who had a terrific first leg game was Nolan LaPorte who was kept out of the playoffs two seasons ago due to COVID, however despite all his efforts he couldn’t find the goal in this game. Clan head coach Malcolm Cameron said: “It’s tough, nothing I can say can make the players feel better. They played well and gave every ounce of energy they had. We had some bad luck around the net, shots missing by a quarter of an inch.

“We had some good chances and put a lot of pressure on them we created a lot of battles around their net but wouldn’t go in. Despite the late start, the adversity and the hurdles I am proud of what the team achieved.” Malcolm Cameron has signed with the Clan for another season and despite the Playoff exit is optimistic for the next season.
