NBA West All-Stars: The top six players

The All-Star weekend is fast approaching. With that comes the prestigious All-Star game, where two teams of the best players go head-to-head. In the west, LeBron James is set to captain his team as he received the most votes by a landslide. The top six players who were selected are as follows:

LeBron James

Could the king not make the team? LeBron James has been playing extremely well at the age of 38, his LA Lakers may not be at their best, but realistically his name alone makes him an All-Star player every season. Averaging 30 points per game on great efficiency, it was a well-deserved pick for King James this season.

Stephen Curry

A similar story to LeBron, Curry also makes the team based on his name and popularity. That’s not to say he doesn’t deserve it by any means, he is still a top point guard in the league. In addition to averaging 30 points, while being a sniper from three-point range, his Golden State Warriors team are in the playoff picture and performing well in the Western Conference.

Nikola Jokic

Jokic is arguably a strong candidate to receive the MVP award this year, which would make him the first player since Larry Bird in 1986 to win it three times in-a-row. He is averaging a 24-point triple double and his Denver Nuggets side are currently top of the Western Conference table.

Luka Doncic

Doncic is also a player who is a contender for this year’s MVP. He is scoring at a legendary level as he is averaging 33 points a game. The only thing that could hold him back is his team’s success as they are almost out of the playoff race.

Paul George

For most of the season, George has been left to lead the LA Clippers as his fellow star player Kawhi Leonard has struggled with injury. He is having a brilliant season defensively and one of the best three-point shooting seasons of his career by averaging 40% efficiency from three-point range.

Damian Lillard

Lillard has been one of the best point guards in the league for a number of years, despite the lack of quality of his Portland Trailblazers teammates. He is, however, averaging a career high with 30 points this year as he aims to lead his Blazers to the playoffs.
