It's beginning to look ‘a slot’ like success for Liverpool

After the shock departure of trophy winning manager Jurgen Klopp last season, some fans may have been fearing the worst for the future of the reds. When former Feyenoord boss Arne Slot was appointed, fans weren't optimistic and felt it could be a tough task to win the Anfield crowd as Klopp did.
Euan Moore, a student from Glasgow and lifelong Liverpool supporter, said: “Initially I couldn’t lie, I did not want Slot. My preference was Xabi Alonso and Ruben Amorim, but I have never been so happy to be proven wrong in my life. Arne Slot is probably the best thing that’s happened to Liverpool since the man he replaced was appointed.”
Pundits are saying his first four months as manager are nothing short of breathtaking.
Slot made Liverpool history after winning eight out of 10 first games. He overtakes Carlo Ancelotti who he faced last night and Jose Mourinho. Liverpool has managed to take 31 points from a possible 35, highlighting the good form the side has shown over the course of the season so far.
They began the season with a 2-0 win over newly promoted Ipswich Town, next a home win over Brentford followed by a dominating display over Manchester United. Liverpool sits first in the Premier League, with Manchester City eight points behind them. The rampant four in a row champions have had a rocky season so far and are without a win in six games.
This Liverpool team has given fans the belief that the season could be one to remember. Jessica Elliott, a football fan, said: "I feel that Liverpool has a great chance at winning the league this season, the departure of Klopp was worrying, but Slot has slotted right in at the club.”
Aside from the league, the Anfield side have benefitted from the new Champions League format. The Reds are first in the Champions League standings with a 100%-win rate so far in the competition and have been dominant in most of the matches so far.
Euan said: “He has Liverpool sat top of the league and the Champions' League group without any of his own targets, which to me is a ridiculously exciting prospect. “
Their most recent win in Europe over Real Madrid is an historic one. This win over the Los Blancos side is the first for Liverpool in almost 15 years. Liverpool don't enjoy coming up against Madrid after significant losses, notably in the 2018 UCL Final with the hard to forget collarbone break for Salah.
Although Liverpool has been having a great season so far, the fans are cautious of the fact that players such as Salah, Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk are in the last year of their contracts. These players are invaluable to the team and the contribution from them over the years has been vital to success. Fans are getting on the backs of Tom Werner and the rest of the Liverpool board members to take action.
David McKinney, former broadcast journalist, shared his opinions on the contract saga and said: “Who knows, Salah says he is more in than out, but it's up to the club. Tell you what, these guys will not hang about, if they feel they are not wanted they will have the pick of where they can go.”
