Dana White, President of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), has announced that this Saturday at UFC 298 he will be revealing who will headline the UFC 300 Main Event.

Fans have been speculating who will feature in the biggest UFC event of all time and who really has the chance and bottle to perform on the biggest stage of them all.

Many possible fights have been rumoured, with the most notable being Conor McGregor’s long-awaited return, but he himself announced his return will be in June for International Fight Week, not UFC 300. So, who will it be?

After Dricus Du Plessis’s victory at UFC 297 over Sean Strickland to become the UFC middleweight champion, there are many talking about his first title defence at UFC 300, with names like Israel Adesanya and Khamzat Chimaev popping up.

Adesanya is looking to regain his middleweight title after he lost it to Strickland at UFC 293. Adesanya has also had a recent stare-down with Du Plessis, which could be a very interesting fight. However…

Du Plessis has recently put a dampener on this possibility by distancing himself from UFC 300. While still having some bumps and bruises from his recent bout with Strickland, he said: “It is just a number and not as massive as UFC Africa is.”

Another fight possibility that has been rumoured is Alex Pereira vs Israel Adesanya 3 for the light-heavy weight championship. These two were rivals long before they met again at UFC 281, when Pereira beat Adesanya for the UFC middleweight championship.

However, at UFC 287, Adesanya Knocked out Pereira and reclaimed his title. Pereira then moved up a division to light heavy-weight and won the light heavy-weight title at UFC 295. Afterwards he then called out Adesanya to finish their trilogy.

It is a very anticipated fight and would be an incredibly exciting end to the rivalry for the fans.

One more fight that has been suggested is Leon Edwards, the current UFC welter-weight champion, in a rematch against Belal Muhammed. Their rematch has been awaited since the first fight because of the controversial ending.

The fight was called to a stop by an accidental eye poke from Edwards to Muhammed, which ended the bout in a no-contest. Leon went on to become champion while Belal was left in the dust. The fight would be a chance for Belal to seek redemption and create history, while Leon sees it as a chance to prove he would’ve always won.

The announcement at UFC 298 may even be as big as the event itself. Every fan will be tuning in to find out one of the most anticipated fights of all time.
