Top of the list of things to buy for Richard and Debbie is a new family home, still in their beloved Lancashire, where they can host big family Christmas get-togethers

The massive £61 million lottery win Lancashire couple Richard and Debbie Nuttall have just gone public about, raises a host of questions about the lottery. They recently won a share of the euro millions jackpot of £123 million.

The Nuttall’s were celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary in Fuerteventura when they received an email telling them to check their national lottery account, after having bought another winning ticket in Spain equating to just £2.60.

They joked that they would buy a “bacon butty or something” with it. After enjoying a day driving around the island, the holidaymakers received another email saying to check their national lottery account.

So, it begs the question, what would you do with a spare £61 million.

Past lottery winners have used the money for various things such as donating to charity or making their life-long dreams come true. But would you tell anyone you have just won a large amount of money.

The record of £170 million was held until 2019, by an anonymous ticket holder and was beaten by the Thwaite couple in 2022, when they won the huge sum of £184 million. Many winners wish to remain anonymous, as they do not want media attention on their sudden win.

In Glasgow, Lisa, a tourist from Ohio said: “I live on a farm so I would put a hot tub in our hedgerow. And then I would invest some back into the farm, and I would probably donate to an organisation that is helping to combat climate change.”

Her mother, Barbara, said: “I would donate to a charity that helps children, like, that don’t have enough to eat and to other parts of the world, I would try to create a place or school or something. Then I would probably use some of the money to travel.

“I would like the keep it a secret.”

Lisa agreed and said: “Yeah, I would hate that attention.”

the highest ever Euromillions jackpot was £206,064,000.
