Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 – Bigger, Bolder and Better
by Aidan Robertson
Warhorse Studios recently revealed and announced the sequel to their hyper-realistic medieval 2018 RPG Kingdom Come Deliverance, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
Reported to be twice the size of the original game with you returning to the beautiful land of Bohemia in 1403, you once again take on the role of Henry of Skalitz as he ventures higher into the noble dynasties of medieval central Europe.
Played by Tom Mckay, Henry has reportedly come a long way since his beginnings as a blacksmith’s hand yet still has a way to go if he is to be held as a notable knight of bohemia, and with a supposedly longer story and bigger world, hopefully warhorse will deliver on the narrative aspect of their anticipated sequel.
In keeping with what made the first game so unique, it seems that warhorse is sticking with its hyper-realistic survival mechanics. A decision that some people may have a disliking to, as for many gamers the reason they couldn't enjoy and get stuck into the first games world was due to the constant multi-tasking that was required of the player.
This alongside the game’s tedious and often difficult combat system of sword fighting and parrying found itself to be more of a detriment to the games enjoyment despite being so crucial to its overall unique identity.
Another issue Warhorse studios are hoping to avoid is a rough launch for their anticipated sequel. The first release found itself not only with criticisms about core mechanics but also on its overall performance as the hilarious and often time game breaking bugs is what made the game such an internet sensation for a small while upon release.
However, with a upstaffed team of now over 250 people and a much larger budget, hopefully Warhorses grounded, and medieval sequel finds itself in the shopping carts of many gamers when it releases sometime this year in 2024.
