It takes two to tango, but who will be the ‘Heavyweight King’s’ final dance partner?
Oleksandr Usyk has announced he wishes to retire after two more fights.
One of them is clear, he will fight the winner of the clash between top-ranked heavyweights Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker, but he has hinted at a ‘show fight’ for his final opponent.
The only name tossed around so far? Alex Pereira.
Pereira is the UFC’s Light-heavyweight champion, a phenomenal kickboxer with a rock attached to his left arm in the place of a hand, hence his nickname “Poatan” translated to ‘Stone hands’.

He has broken the UFC’s record for most title defences in the shortest amount of time, with three in 175 days.
Both men are phenomenal strikers, but Anthony Joshua displayed in his fight with Ngannou that there are levels to boxing in the most recent example of a fighter swapping the octogen for the ring.
However, even with a hearty showing against former world-champion Tyson Fury, Ngannou was never the most technically sound fighter.
Pereira is an excellent striker in every way possible, made most evident in a Matrix-esque knockout of his most recent title challenger Khalil Rountree Jr.
Of course, Usyk is no slouch himself. He beat the formerly undefeated Tyson Fury twice in a row and at a considerable size disadvantage as a former cruiserweight.
In their most recent bout, Usyk was outweighed by 55 lbs. He would not face this problem with Pereira, who often weighs around 230 lbs in the octagon.#
A fight between the pinnacles of both the UFC and Boxing right now would be amazing. Even if Pereira would go into the fight as a massive underdog, the much less refined Ngannou shocked the world with a close fight with Fury, why can’t he do the same?
