Glasgow football club Drumchapel Amateurs are calling on former players and officials to help them with their 75th anniversary celebration plans.
The club, who own Glenhead Park located on Farm Road were formed in 1950 by local businessman Douglas Smith from a local Boy’s Brigade side and grew to become one of the country’s premier amateur sides.
They famously brought through Scottish football icons via their ‘boys club’ such as Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes, Walter Smith and Archie Gemmill as well as current Scottish international Nicky Devlin.
The club would compete across age groups both in Scotland and across Europe, competing in tournaments against some of the continents biggest sides.
The amateur side still play at Glenhead Park, whilst the club also have under 21’s playing out of the Clydebank Sports Hub and run youth teams all the way down the age groups to their ‘Little Lions’ side which is run for under 5’s as well as a walking football side for older players.
Club secretary Laura Stewart is inviting former players to reach out to the club.
She said “we are looking for former players and officials to reach out to the club to help us with our anniversary celebrations.
“We’re looking for anything from a short message, whether it be a quote or a video, of memories from their time with the club.
“Anybody who made a contribution to the club is welcome to get in contact with any memories they have to help our media team create some content for this momentous anniversary.”
The club are asking that those able to help contact them via email media@drumchapelamateurs.co.uk or via their official Facebook page.
