A local theatre group is looking for a talented pooch to join the cast of Walking Shadows. This will part of Glasgow’s International Comedy Festival (GICF) which takes place between the 12th - 30th of March. Auditions start at Glasgow’s Social Hub next week.

The script calls for the canine to make a small appearance and perform a trick on stage.

Michael Lewis said: “Although it’s a small role, it’s a vital one and we’re hoping to discover the next Spaniel Day Lewis or Michael Canine.”

Whether Great Danes or Dachshunds, the role is open to dogs of all sizes and breeds, although the “cute factor” is bound to play a part. The successful pooch will not only land the starring role but will be presented with their own trophy as well. Could a Glaswegian pup star be the next Spaniel Radcliffe or Pug Henshall?

“Walking Shadows,” is a farce within a farce, behind the scenes as a shambolic am-dram group attempt to put on a classic comic play. It was successfully performed at the GICF in 2015, described by audiences then as “Really clever, slick and funny.”

Websters Theatre will hold the three-act farce on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of March. It's housed in a historically beautiful building that was once a church which adds to its unique charm. The theatre hosts a wide range of events, including plays, musicals, comedy shows, live music and more.

Starting in 2002, GICF is held annually in March in venues across the city. The festival’s aim is to have the biggest impact of any comedy festival in the world. Let's paws for a moment with acts such as Felicity Ward and Catherine Bohart will have their golden moment on Glasgow’s stage.
