Celtic have been praised on some “incredible business” heading towards the upcoming summer transfer window. The Scottish champions have agreed a pre-contract deal to bring back former Hoops favourite Kieran Tierney on a free transfer from Arsenal.

Following the Gunners’ sensational 3-0 win over Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg last night, former Hibernian and Scotland U21 international Tam McManus praised the potential deal Brendan Rodgers’ side has reportedly agreed on.

Tierney, who is out of contract with the North London club this summer, was introduced for the final ten minutes of the match. He replaced Declan Rice — the hero of the night following two fantastic second-half free kicks — and helped his side see out the match with a clean sheet.

Speaking on his X account, McManus said: “Tierney on for Arsenal and looks fit & sharp.

“Could win the Champions League this season, so it really is incredible business for Celtic to get him in the summer.”

Tierney, 27, has struggled for game time overall this season at Arsenal, and it appears his injury-hit spell down south will soon come to an end. A return to his boyhood club will undoubtedly boost both the Scotland international and the Parkhead faithful heading into the new season.

After failing to complete a January window move, manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed a pre-contract has been agreed, leaving Celtic fans now salivating at the prospect — not only of one of their own coming home, but potentially coming home with a European Cup medal in his possession.
