Former Chelsea and Aston Villa star Andy Townsend believes that Celtic and Rangers would make a big impact if they were to move to the English Premier League.
Townsend told BoyleSports, who offer the latest Football odds, that he would be all for the old firm moving south of the border but that it would not be as easy for them as it is in Scotland.
He said: “There’s no question that Celtic and Rangers would find things difficult in the Premier League, but it would be an unbelievable spectacle, there are no two ways about it.
“It might never happen, but I think they would end up being competitive in the Premier League thanks to their grounds, their fanbases and how they would be able to attract players.”
He did concede it would take time for the duo to establish themselves in the English topflight.
He said: I think as things stand they would survive in the Premier League without pulling up any trees but after a few years make a real impact and improve.
“It’s been spoken about so many times and is still hypothetical. We’d all love to see it, but it will probably never happen.”
