Aberdeen continue to show their dominance in the Scottish Premiership after a 2-1 win against title rivals, Rangers, putting them a further nine points ahead of the Gers, who sit in third place.

The Dons took on Rangers (30 October) and put on a confident display, scoring two goals against them. The home side remained calm and composed throughout the game to secure the important win.

Nicky Devlin scored the first goal at 31 minutes to take the lead for his side. However, Rangers fought back, scoring in the 63rd minute to make it equal. In the end, it was Shayden Morris who scored the winner for Aberdeen in the 74th minute, securing the victory.

Tied with Celtic at the top of the table, Aberdeen are continuing to shock teams. They remain unbeaten after 10 matches, with nine wins so far in the season and only one draw, coming against current champions Celtic.

Last season, the club struggled in the league with only 12 wins out of 38. This left them in the bottom half of the table after the split, eventually finishing 7th. They struggled to find consistency throughout the season, going through several managers. This left the team in a hard position trying to find a style of play which suited them best.

On the 16 April, they appointed new manager Jimmy Thelin in hopes of a fresh start for the club in the upcoming season. The Dons kicked the season off with a 2-1 win against St Johnstone, which implemented the start to a strong run in the league so far. They have only conceded nine goals this season and have scored 20.

Over the summer, Aberdeen sold forward Bojan Miovski to Girona for 4.9 million euros (£6.8 million). He was the club's top goal scorer last season, scoring 16 goals in the premiership and 26 in all competitions. Miovski was a key player in the club, and many wondered how well they would do in the following campaign without him.

Aberdeen’s squad value comes nowhere near the price of both Glasgow teams; however, they have put up a good battle against them in recent matches. Aberdeen’s squad values at 15.08 million euros compared to Rangers’ at 80.75 million euros and Celtic’s at 124.43 million euros.

Despite having a much smaller budget compared to both Celtic and Rangers, Aberdeen have proven that once you get the correct formula with the team, and get all players and coaching staff on the same page, you can achieve big things.

Aberdeen takes on Celtic in the Scottish League Cup semi-finals this weekend. Manager Jimmy Thelin is completely focused on this game and wants to take each game one at a time.

It will be interesting to see how these next few weeks will play out for Aberdeen. The possibility is there for Aberdeen to win the league but it's whether they can continue this outstanding run.
