Glasgow can be quite an intimidating place for newcomers, it can be hard to figure out where to start your journey. This list is to guide you to the best places to get you into the feel and culture of Glasgow and start you on your way.
One of the most charming places in all of Glasgow is Ashton Lane. Just off Byres Road, this endearing little spot is known well among the locals. With the draw of the cobbled roads and the overhanging fairy lights, it's easy to see why this is such a popular spot. For newcomers, it's a perfect way to see what the locals are like, and with pubs and cafes such as the famous Ubiquitous Chip, it's easy to settle in right away!
Next up is the world-renowned Kelvin Grove Art Gallery and Museum. It is ranked as the top art museum to visit in the UK on TripAdvisor, meaning it just had to be on this list! With over 8000 individual objects and 22 differently themed galleries, there is no better way to learn about the history and culture of Glasgow than this. Even the building itself is something to marvel at as it is an architectural masterpiece but, with free entry, there is no reason not to step inside.
Last on the list is The Necropolis. A stark difference to the other two locations on the list, the change of pace and scenery here can certainly be a welcome one. This Victorian-era cemetery is home to more than 3500 monuments in honour of the dead. It is a peaceful walk around the winding path to the top of the hill and once you get to the top your time spent is worth it. Your reward is a great view of some of the city, it's certainly a great way to find your thoughts and take it all in.
Once you have explored these three places you are all set to go on your way and find out what the rest of Glasgow has waiting for you.
