Glasgow City boss Leanne Ross unhappy with officials following 2-2 draw with Celtic

Glasgow City manager Leanne Ross has criticised the referee’s performance after her side drew 2-2 with Celtic FC Women yesterday evening.
She felt the challenge on Anna Oskarsson was a bad tackle and that it should’ve been called by Keiran Trayner, who took the whistle for the clash.
Speaking after the game, Ross said: “The tackle on Anna Oskarsson, if you see the state of her legs. She has been caught above the knee, both legs, and it looks like a straight-leg tackle in the middle of the pitch, so you have the referee, linesman, and fourth official looking straight at that, and it was still play on. I was particularly unhappy about that.”
When Celtic got their second goal of the game, the one to put Elena Sadiku’s side in front, Lauren Davidson had been down for a while in the build-up. The referee chose not to stop the game until Celtic’s attack had played out, a decision that Ross was disappointed with.
She said: “I am particularly unhappy with the second goal that the referee allowed the game to go on so long when we had a player down. I don’t think it was a promising attack because Celtic had possession of the ball in their own half, so he was able to stop the game at any point.
“I asked him at half-time, but you just get the same response – it is not a head knock. But the length of time the player was down and the length of the time the ball was in their half, there was time to stop it.”
Not trying to push the blame onto the referee, she added: “In saying that, we need to defend the situation a lot better.”
A lot of supporters agree with Ross in thinking that the referee was lenient with the Celts but harsh on City. Despite Celtic committing more fouls in the 90 minutes, they didn’t receive a single yellow card, whilst City were given four.
