A German feel with Scottish tastes

The decor of the iconic venue.

Beir Halle in the city centre of Glasgow has been around for 25 years. The restaurant has a German feel being based on Germany’s famous beer halls, offering an extensive array of beers, both bottled and draught, including a different selection from all over the world.

The look of the restaurant is a sort of medieval tavern with a cozy, intimate vibe as the restaurant is not very big. The tables are long with high up stools or booths to sit at. The lighting was warm creating an inviting casual dinner.

The service of the staff was excellent, friendly and cheery and quick, with drinks coming out minutes after ordering and the food coming out around about 15 minutes later.

The food was outstanding with the menu being altered to fit Scottish tastes rather than the traditional German foods, as the menu is filled with pizzas, salads, hotdogs and loaded fries.

There are some German aspects to the menu with items like chicken schnitzel tenders, deep fried pickles, red pickled slaw, German bratwurst, and frankfurters.

The hot honey pepperoni pizza on offer

I ordered the hot honey pepperoni pizza, which was amazing, it was a thin, crispy, stone baked pizza with homemade tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, and fresh hot honey drizzle. The honey although being an unusual extra, added a sweetness to the savoury toppings, bringing out the flavours from both aspects of the pizza.

The restaurant was extremely affordable with pizzas being priced between £10.95-£11.85 which compared to other restaurants is much cheaper for the quality that is given.

The steins also range in price depending on the drink with a broad range of worldwide beers with the cheapest being £11.90 and the most expensive being £13.20 which is the equivalent of three -and a half beers- making the price extremely worth it.

This restaurant is a definite must visit for all people interested in beers and affordable good food.
